Treating Bedbugs

By Renee Garcia

Bedbug treatment can be done by a professional exterminator. If you do not want to do it yourself, you can always contact one. But if you believe that you can do it, there are many methods to choose from.

Bedbugs can be killed by extreme heat. But before exposing anything under extreme heat, you must scrub then vacuum every infested furniture and area. After you vacuum, make sure that you seal the used vacuum bag inside a plastic bag. This will ensure that any vacuumed bedbug or egg will not be transferred.

Exposing the mattress or furniture under the sun can kill bedbugs. Leave them there for hours. And make sure to inspect for bedbugs before bringing them back inside your house.

Another effective way is by using diatomaceous soil. This is made up of single-celled algae. The jagged edges of the soil can kill bedbugs. You have nothing to worry because the soil particles are too small to cause any harm on you or your pets. Leave the soil on the infested area and furniture for some time. Then, vacuum the soil after a few days.

Steam cleaning also kills bedbugs. But before you use this method, make sure that the surface you are going to steam clean will not be destroyed.

And of course, bedbug insecticides are also effective. You can buy these in dust form or in sprays. There are even insecticides in the market today that are environment-friendly and less toxic. Just be sure that you purchase an insecticide for bedbugs. You must read the product label and instructions before applying the insecticide. Insecticides must also be handled with utmost care.

If only your mattress is infested, you can also use a mattress cover for bedbug treatment. Sealing your mattress in ensures that no bedbug comes out or inside the mattress. This will also ensure that you will not be bitten. That means that bedbugs will not be able to feed. After at least 6 months, the bedbugs will surely die.

Choose one from these methods of bedbug treatment. And live a bedbug-free life! - 30446
